The Convention Speakers & Their Informative Presentations

The Saturday morning meeting started at 8:00 a.m. sharp with a continental breakfast after which members shared examples of their personal collections with each other.

Neil was the first to speak about Chinese Export Silver.

Next, Karl discussed the match safes made by the Sampson Mordon Company.

Karl's lovely wife Francis displays a wonderful collection of Sampson Mordan match safes.

Samples of enameled and sentry box safes.

This was the webmaster's favorite subject "dogs" so I had to take a close-up shot!

Andreas speaks about "Marriages", the fabrication of match safes from novelty items like letter openers, pins and other similar items.

Club members listened attentively to each speaker.

Chris talked about the Bryant & May Museum Collection, part of which he brought with him from the U.K.

Dennis "The Menace" debates the true name of the Match Safe?  Match box?  Match holder?  Match case?  Match receptacle?  Vesta box?  Fusee box?  Fusee case?  Oh who gives a hoot to what they are called anyway!  Ha! Ha!

Executive committee members Karl and George.  Isn't it true that Italians can't speak without the use of their hands!  Karl knows where to keep his hands... in his pocket!  Ha! Ha!

At the end of the business meeting on Sunday morning John "Thanks" fellow executive committee member George for all of his help organizing this years convention.  Club members showed their appreciation too with thundering applause!
