A new book illustrating extraordinary match safes from the collections of John Antonelli and Nigel Ross with significant selections from other collections will be published before the January, 2009 IMSA meeting in Miami Beach, FL. Along with the book, Karl Koenig, an IMSA member and experienced photographer and print maker, has created, separate from the book, 2 photo-gravures of match safes, (a special photographic intaglio process). The gravures are available in a limited editions of 50 of each and are signed and numbered by Karl. They will be available on a first come basis. The
book is edited by Neil Shapiro and each beautifully illustrated image has the
relevant information of materials, makers, size, etc., listed. (Price to be determined)
IMSA will publish an encyclopedia of Gorham match safes with over 1,300 illustrations and thousands of facts about Gorham match safes by January, 2009. There will be an abridged edition with most of the relevant information and a CD, in this edition, that has all the data. There will also be an unabridged edition of about 2,000 pages for those who can't live without a paper reference tool. The book editors have surveyed almost all known collections, private and public as well as scoured the Gorham Archives at the John Hay Library at Brown University. IMSA members will have the first opportunity to purchase this book. The price is to be determined.
